Did you know that generic Brilinta (ticagrelor) is now available from Cheapomeds.com?
This affordable generic prescription medication is a popular treatment available for post-acute coronary syndrome management, and now American patients can order it as well as the brand name medication directly from a Canadian International Pharmacy Association or CIPA certified pharmacy.
What Is Brilinta Used For?
Brilinta is the brand name for ticagrelor. Brilinta is a medicine for people who were recently hospitalized due to a heart attack which is also known as acute coronary syndrome (ACS) event. In those patients, blood clots can cluster together and block coronary blood flow.
Medications like Brilinta or Plavix can ensure adequate blood flow around the heart to help prevent another heart attack or stroke. See Brilinta Brochure for more information.
The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association state that Brilinta + aspirin is a recommended treatment option for people who have suffered a heart attack.
How Does Brilinta Work?
Brilinta and Plavix are both part of a group of blood thinner medications called antiplatelet agents, or P2Y12 inhibitors. They can help protect you from having another heart attack or dying from one. Plavix is the brand name for clopidogrel.
Both medications work as receptor antagonists, this means that they block the P2Y12 receptor responsible for promoting platelets and blood clots. These medications are typically taken daily for at least a year after an ACS event.
Although Brilinta is known to be a more effective drug in most cases, both medications have important differences in their side effects and dosage. According to the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Cardiology (ACC), Brilinta is a preferred treatment for people with ACS. Brilinta works quicker and has a reversible mode of action. It also has better platelet inhibition and patient outcomes compared to Plavix.

Important Safety Information About Brilinta
Brilinta is used to lower your chance of suffering or dying from a heart attack or stroke, but Brilinta (and similar drugs) may cause bleeding that can be serious and may even lead to death. Instances of serious bleeding, such as internal bleeding, may require blood transfusions or surgery.
While you take Brilinta, you may bruise and bleed more easily and be more likely to have nosebleeds. Bleeding will also take longer than usual to stop.
